STROLLING WITH JENNY KEE
Sydney is not only Australia’s leading city, it’s one of the world’s most beautiful, thanks above all to its modern architecture, in many cases set against a pristine natural backdrop. With its rugged coastline, breathtaking panoramas and extensive sandy shores, the metropolis is actually quite amazing. 
The mythical Bondy Beach is, for instance, popular with surfers from around the globe. Overlooking the extraordinary harbor, main hub of town, is Sydney’s renowned Opera House designed by Danish architect Jorn Utzon. This is the spot Australian artist Jenny Kee suggests as the starting point for our tour. First we walk along the Circular Quay around the Rocks as far as the Wharf Theatre Precinct; then we head into the arty Redfern & Waterloo quarter with its galleries, stores and

coffee shops. From there we stroll through the various neighborhoods – Surry Hills/Darlinghurst, Paddington, Chinatown – with all the different Victorian buildings, one more interesting than the next. Last stop on our itinerary is Watsons Bay, where we can enjoy the fabulous view from Doyles on the Beach, a famous oceanfront fish restaurant.

A cosmopolitan metropolis, Sydney has excellent restaurants where great chefs offer innovative cuisine with a Pacific Rim twist. The list includes Kylie Kwong in Surrey Hills, Sean’s Panorama in Bondi, Marigold Yum Cha in Chinatown, as well as Spice Temple, Quay and Longrain. Three of the trendiest are Mad Cow, Ego (with lovely view) and Foveaux (for kangaroo meat with hibiscus jelly).

The place to shop is the historic colonial Strand Arcade, where the jewelry stores present a fine selection of opals, the national gemstone. Afterward, why not drive out to the Blue Mountains? For a relaxing stay at the
