Max Mara has extended and given a makeover to its historic Moscow boutique within the GUM department store in Red Square.
The boutique has grown from 200 to 340 square metres, and is one of the first in Russia to be designed in line with the new concept created by the "Duccio Grassi Architects" studio (which also designed the Milan store in Corso Vittorio Emanuele and the Paris store in Avenue Montaigne).
Pure lines and organic materials come together to create a tactile, visually sophisticated environment, rich in forward-looking contrasts. Wood plays a key role, with ash-treated oak, wicker and ipé lapacho from the seats of an Argentinian stadium built 200 years ago, accompanied by platinum leaf glass and metal: copper-coated sheet iron and slim glossy stainless steel frames.
The three large outside windows look out onto Red Square, while there are two inside the Gum department store. The concept of the boutique is based around the idea of a box engaged in a dialogue with the exterior,

creating a dynamic, evolving space that blends smoothly with the surroundings, drawing them in and directing them through the areas created. Shopping thus becomes a multi-sensory experience in a setting filled with surprises. The following collections are on sale in the boutique: Max Mara, Max Mara Elegante, 'S Max Mara, Weekend by Max Mara, plus an ample selection of Accessories.
The Max Mara Group, present in the Russian market since 1995, today has over 80 stores of its own, and can also be found in some 203 multibrand stores throughout the country.
With the inauguration of this store, the Max Mara Group once again underlines the huge importance of the Russian market for Italian-made goods.
